For two weeks, you will work side-by-side with our Saddle maker to build a plane basic custom saddle of your choice for the purpose of learning how to apply solid techniques and when complete have a quality saddle you can take home. Whether seeking a career in saddle making or repair or as a self enrichment experience, this class is for you.

Our one month course is an extension of our two week course and can be personally tailored to each individual student and their specific learning needs. Whether you have prior leather working experience or no leather experience at all, this is a good option to get your feet wet with basic leather skills for a couple of weeks before we bu
Our one month course is an extension of our two week course and can be personally tailored to each individual student and their specific learning needs. Whether you have prior leather working experience or no leather experience at all, this is a good option to get your feet wet with basic leather skills for a couple of weeks before we build your saddle. If you have prior leather, working experience, this addition to your beginner saddle course can be an excellent addition to focus on or find Tune your leather working skills so that you can go home and add this into your saddle making or repair program. This extra two weeks comes at an additional cost in tuition.
Course Details
Tuition is $8500 for two weeks and includes the following
- materials for one basic saddle valued at approximately $1500
- a set of basic hand tools that will be used in class to build your saddle and are yours to take home. Valued at $600
- one on one professional instruction at a student rate of $52.50 per hr. at approximately 120 hrs. over two weeks. At a value of $6300
- administrative fee of $100
*add $1500 for extra two weeks for a total of $10,000 for a month. During this extra time a student will possibly assist with saddle repairs. We will also be able to tailor instruction for a student on specific leather crafting skills from basic tooling, layout design and artwork to more advanced skills of leather crafting and saddle making or repair. This will be determined before the beginning of class.
Lodging and meals are not included and are the responsibility of the student. There are plenty of places close to stay and plenty of places to eat. Air bnb is a good option and we do have a refrigerator and microwave here at the shop. We can be available pick you up and drop you off daily for class if you fly in. We will also be happy to pick you up at the airport and drop you off for your trip home. We will be more than happy to assist with the planning and recommendations of your trip.
